The Indian Post organized an awareness program titled ‘Indian Post Connect’ at RVS College of Engineering and Technology, under the joint aegis of the college’s NDLI Club and IQAC. The event took place in the college auditorium with the aim of informing students and faculty about the wide range of products and services offered by the Indian Post, especially in the digital era.
The program began with a warm welcome to the chief guest, Mr. Shankar Kujur, Senior Postmaster (Group-B), Head Post Office, Jamshedpur. He was accompanied by Mr. Nishant Kumar, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, and Mr. Uma Shankar, all Postal Assistants from the Jamshedpur Head Post Office. To honor their presence, mementos were presented by Dr. Vikram Sharma and Dr. Sharat Chandra Mahto.
The core of the session featured a detailed presentation by Mr. Nishant Kumar, who spoke on the evolution of the Indian Post from its traditional roots to becoming a modern, multifaceted service provider. His talk emphasized the department’s growing relevance in today’s digital landscape, especially in facilitating accessible financial services in remote and rural regions.
He highlighted various key services including the Post Office Savings Account, Recurring Deposit, Public Provident Fund, Life Insurance, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, among others. These schemes were showcased not only as financial tools but also as instruments of social security and inclusion for the masses.
The event successfully bridged awareness between traditional postal systems and their modern-day digital transformation. It concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sudhir Jha, acknowledging the efforts of the postal department and the college teams for organizing the insightful session.
