RVS College of Engineering and Technology hosted a two-day national seminar on the theme “Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Change: Innovations and Solutions for a Resilient Future.” The seminar, conducted in the Santhali language, is organized in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and under the guidance of AICTE-VAANI, emphasizing the promotion of regional languages in higher education.
The seminar was chaired by Mr. Binda Singh, Chairman of RVS Educational Trust. The event was graced by Mr. Ram Das Soren, Hon’ble Minister of School Education, Literacy & Registration Department, Government of Jharkhand, as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Chairman Mr. Binda Singh and Secretary Mr. Bharat Singh, who felicitated him with a shawl and memento.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Soren appreciated the initiative of conducting the seminar in the Santhali language. He emphasized that local languages serve as a natural and effective medium of expression, making education more accessible and relatable. He highlighted the Government of Jharkhand’s initiatives for promoting tribal languages and culture, including the establishment of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Tribal University in East Singhbhum, Jamshedpur, which houses 29 departments dedicated to tribal studies. He also discussed the state’s efforts to advance Ayurvedic education using indigenous herbs found in Jharkhand and reaffirmed the historical struggle behind the formation of the state, rooted in the protection of its natural resources—jal, jungle, and zameen (water, forest, and land).
Secretary Mr. Bharat Singh, in his address, emphasized the significance of selecting Santhali as the medium for the seminar and encouraged scholars to contribute to engineering education by authoring books in local languages. He lauded Mr. Soren’s continued efforts in preserving and promoting regional languages and cultures.
The seminar began with a welcome address by Dr. Vikram Sharma, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Head of Training & Placement, who introduced the theme and welcomed all dignitaries and participants. The inaugural session was attended by key members of the RVS Educational Trust, including Treasurer Mr. Shatrughan Singh, Governing Body Member Mr. Shakti Singh, and Seminar Coordinator Dr. Rakesh Kumar.
Following the inaugural, five technical sessions were held featuring prominent personalities:
- Mrs. Rani Murmu – Sahitya Akademi Awardee
- Mr. Ramesh Hansda – President, All India Santhali Film Association
- Mr. Shambhunath Soren – Associate Professor, Manbhum College, West Bengal
- Mr. Ravindra Nath Murmu – General Secretary, All India Santhali Writers Association, Jamshedpur
- Mr. Nishon Hembram – Assistant Professor, Tribal and Local Language Department, Kolhan University, Chaibasa
All sessions witnessed active participation and enthusiastic engagement from attendees.
