A lecture on water harvesting was organized at RVS College of Engineering and Technology to raise awareness about the growing water crisis. The chief guest for the occasion was Prof. Dr. B.P. Verma, the Head of the Department at NIT Jamshedpur (retired) and former Director of several prestigious technical educational institutions across India. At the start of the program, the college Principal, Prof. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Tiwari, along with the Dean of Administration, Prof. Krishna Murari, warmly welcomed Prof. Verma with a bouquet and a memento as a token of appreciation.
During his lecture, Prof. Verma highlighted the urgent need for rainwater harvesting and its various methods. He explained how the global water crisis is escalating, affecting not only India but also many other nations. Citing examples from countries like Australia and Singapore, he emphasized how they are successfully tackling the issue by collecting and using rainwater efficiently. In India, particularly in urban areas, the situation is becoming increasingly dire, with groundwater levels depleting at an alarming rate. He urged the students to advocate for and incorporate water harvesting systems in the construction of homes, buildings, and factories to conserve water. The students showed great enthusiasm throughout the event and expressed their honor in attending a program with such a distinguished personality. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Shri Krishna Murari.
