A one-day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was successfully organized at RVS College of Engineering and Technology with the objective of creating awareness among students and faculty members about the significance of intellectual property in the modern era of research and innovation. The workshop witnessed active participation from students, academicians, and faculty members from various departments of the institution.
The keynote speaker for the workshop was Dr. Kanika Prasad from National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur. She was warmly welcomed by the institute’s Training and Placement Head, Prof. (Dr.) Vikram Sharma, along with the workshop coordinator, Prof. Thakur Pranav Kumar Gautam, through the presentation of a shawl and a memento. The program formally began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the spirit of knowledge and learning.
In his welcome address, Dr. Vikram Sharma highlighted the growing relevance of Intellectual Property Rights in academic, industrial, and research sectors. Introducing the theme of the workshop, Prof. Thakur Pranav Kumar Gautam emphasized that in today’s rapidly advancing technological environment, protecting innovations and creative ideas through Intellectual Property Rights has become extremely important.
During her technical session, Dr. Kanika Prasad delivered an informative digital presentation explaining different aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and legal ownership of inventions. She stated that an invention cannot be legally recognized as personal intellectual property unless it is properly patented. She also discussed the increasing global importance of IPR in fostering innovation and safeguarding creativity.
Expressing satisfaction over the successful organization of the workshop, college Treasurer Mr. Shatrughana Singh said that the workshop would greatly benefit both students and faculty members. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dean Research, Dr. Rakesh Kumar.
